AC/DC’s ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ Used In AFL’s ‘Australia’s Game’ Campaign

According to AFL.com.au, AC/DC‘s classic rock anthem “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)” is featured in a new commercial for the Australian Football League‘s (AFL) Australia’s Game campaign. You can check out the one-minute spot below.

Music producer Michael Gudinski commented: “It’s only fitting that Australia’s greatest game has adopted the world-famous rock anthem ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ from Australia’s most successful rock band of all time. It’s a great tribute to the late Bon Scott and a fantastic coup for the AFL to get such acknowledgment as this is the first time the band have linked themselves with an Australian sport.”

Added AFL‘s general manager of strategy and marketing Andrew Catterall: “The song represents the challenges and sheer jubilation that every AFL fan or player goes through each season. The fact that AC/DC has decided to license its song for this campaign speaks volumes. The band has never allowed a license of ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ in any campaign anywhere in the world before. It was going to take something quintessentially Australian for the band to even consider such a use. Quite simply, the band members are fans of Australian Rules and saw the song as a suitable soundtrack to what is Australia’s game.”

AFL fans can expect to hear the AC/DC song played before matches during the 2012 season.

The Australian Football League is said to be the most popular spectator sport in the country.
