Did JUDAS PRIEST’s ‘Screaming For Vengeance’ Inspire GAP T-Shirt Design?

A t-shirt currently being sold by Gap — the American clothing and accessories retailer based in San Francisco, California — bears more than a passing resemblance to the cover artwork of the classic JUDAS PRIEST album “Screaming For Vengeance”.

Guitarist Bill Kelliher of Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON was the first to point out the similarities between the two designs, writing on his Instagram feed, “Leave it to the Gap to steal ideas for kid T-shirts. Seriously poor taste.”

The Gap design and the “Screaming For Vengeance” t-shirt can be seen below in a side-by-side comparison.

JUDAS PRIEST‘s eighth studio album, “Screaming For Vengeance”, will be released as a special 30th-anniversary edition on September 4 (one day earlier internationally) via Sony Music. The set will contain not only the remastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the 1983 US Festival show, filmed in San Bernadino, California on May 29, 1983.
