Chicago’s EARTHEN GRAVE has announced the addition of drummer Chris Wozniak (LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR) to the group’s ranks.
Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Wozniak has performed on drums in a variety of rock, folk, and metal bands for over 20 years. He has played with local acts TRIFOG and BLOOD OF MARTYRS, and is currently the drummer for national acts I KLATUS and LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR.
In reference to LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR‘s 2008 release “War Metal Battle Master”, Decibel magazine described Wozniak as being “skilled at treating his drum kit like trash cans that must be killed.” It’s this very intensity which made him the perfect fit for Chicago’s epic doom collective.
EARTHEN GRAVE‘s previous drummer, Scott Davidson, played on the group’s 2009 “Dismal Times” debut EP and recently released full-length album, “Earthen Grave”.
EARTHEN GRAVE will perform a Full on Metal show at the Double Door in Chicago this Friday, November 30, and in June comes Days of The Doomed 3 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with additional live actions to be confirmed in 2013.
EARTHEN GRAVE was founded in 2008 by guitarist Jason Muxlow (THE LIVING FIELDS, WINTERING) bassist Ron Holzner (formerly of TROUBLE, DEBRIS INC., PLACE OF SKULLS), and drummer Scott Davidson (ex-STONEHENGE, Rebel Radio). The trio recruited vocalist Mark Weiner (TRIFOG), guitarist Tony Spillman (SPILLAGE), and renowned classical violinist Rachel Barton Pine who performs on extended range electric flying V violin. In late April of this year, EARTHEN GRAVE released its mammoth first album titled “Earthen Grave”. Produced by Ron Holzner, and released via his own Claude Elmo Music, this layered opus showcases the range and diversity of the band’s epic and commanding material.
