Former CANDLEMASS Singer Performs MERCYFUL FATE Classic With PORTRAIT; Video Available

Former CANDLEMASS singer Messiah Marcolin joined Swedish heavy metallers PORTRAIT on stage at the 2011 edition of Muskelrock — a two-day festival was held June 2-4 in Tyrolen outside Växjö, Sweden — to perform the MERCYFUL FATE classic “Black Funeral”. Video footage of his appearance can be viewed below.

PORTRAIT‘s second full-length album, “Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae”, was released on May 10 (one day earlier internationally) via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Necromorbus Studio (WATAIN, UNANIMATED, DESTRÖYER 666) in Alvik, Sweden. The album features cover artwork by Tobias Forge of REPUGNANT/SUBVISION fame and a guest appearance by Kimmo Kuusniemi from the Finnish cult act SARCOFAGUS.

According to a press release, “Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae” “is an album transcending the most glorious moments of ’80s heavy metal. . . You can only describe this album as the wet dream of any fan of heavy metal. [This] is metal in its purest form — relentless, energy-driven, complex, dark, catchy and HEAVY!”

PORTRAIT is:
