Former Deputy Convicted In DEF LEPPARD Ticket Scam

According to NBC Miami, a former Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy who faked a car accident to recoup money spent on DEF LEPPARD concert tickets was convicted Wednesday on charges of grand theft and filing a fraudulent insurance claim.

Shawn Terel Barber, 44, is facing 10 years behind bars when he’s sentenced on January 27, Palm Beach County prosecutors told the Sun-Sentinel.

Barber had purchased four tickets for DEF LEPPARD‘s on March 29, 2008 show at the Seminole Hard Rock but his babysitter backed out at the last minute. Instead of eating the $630 ticket costs, Barber filed a fake accident report, which would have triggered the tickets’ insurance clause.
