GODSMACK has nearly completed work on an EP of cover songs that will be included with the band’s upcoming live album, due out sometime this spring. According to The Pulse Of Radio, singer Sully Erna wrote on Twitter this past Saturday (February 11) to update fans on the project’s progress, saying, “Today is last day of mixing the covers EP we’re working on for you. I think you’re gonna love this!” He added, “I want to suggest to management when they’re all ready to hear, we throw them up online and let all of you decide which one is best [for] radio.”
Until he persuades his management to put the songs online, Erna told The Pulse Of Radio he’s not revealing which songs the band has covered. “I will tell you this: we picked five covers that everybody should know,” he said. “They’re very popular songs, and people are asking us, you know, why are we picking these songs? Well, because the record hasn’t come out yet, and we’ve already sold probably 180 million copies. They’re all hits (laughs).”
The EP and live album will likely coincide with GODSMACK‘s upcoming co-headlining tour with STAIND, which will kick off on April 13 in Augusta, Georgia. HALESTORM will be the supporting act for the entire road trip.
In addition to having the tour named by a fan through a contest, the bands have run a second competition in which fans have submitted designs for the tour poster. The designer of the winning poster will receive $500 and a prize pack.
GODSMACK‘s fifth album, “The Oracle”, sold 117,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart.
