A three-and-a-half-minute video clip in which guitarist Mark Morton of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD shows you how to play a few of the riffs from the band’s new album, “Resolution”, can be seen below.
In a recent interview, Morton said that the lyrics on the CD, which he and vocalist Randy Blythe co-wrote, were far more personal than the themes covered on the band’s previous effort, “Wrath”. “Randy and I draw inspiration from the things we are living with, and living through. Life experience… Our last album, ‘Wrath’, was largely about other people, but I think this record seems to be more about ourselves.”
The guitarist also spoke about the music that influenced the guitar parts that he contributed to the new album. “Some of the late ’80s and early ’90s heavy metal is some of the foundations that I’ve drawn for inspiration, musically, but also I think from ourselves a little bit, too,” he said. “I think it’s cool to look back over the course of the history of the band and see some of the things we’ve done and use them as reference points for our new stuff. Kind of a starting point.”
“Resolution” was released in North America on January 24 via Epic Records (one day earlier internationally through Roadrunner Records). The CD was recorded at various studios in Virginia and New York with producer Josh Wilbur, who worked on the band’s last effort, 2009’s “Wrath”.
“Resolution” features 14 songs and comes in a digipack with artwork by longtime art director Ken Adams.
