OBSCURA: New Video Interview With STEFFEN KUMMERER

Metal Injection conducted an interview with guitarist/singer Steffen Kummerer of German progressive death metallers OBSCURAbefore the band’s July 16, 2011 performance in New York City. You can now watch the chat below.

Bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling recently left OBSCURA “due to repetitive conflicting schedules with job-related obligations.”

“Omnivium”, the latest album from OBSCURA, sold around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 11 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

OBSCURA‘s previous album, “Cosmogenesis”, opened with 900 units to debut at No. 71 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart.

The “Omnivium” artwork was designed and laid out by Orion Landau (ORIGIN, DYING FETUS, ZEKE, DISFEAR).

“Omnivium” was recorded at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura (TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS). The album is based on Friedrich Schelling‘s “On Nature’s Connection to the Spirit World”.
