Pop Star SHAKIRA: ‘I Am A Huge METALLICA Fan’ (Video)

Video footage of Colombian pop star Shakira talking about her decision to perform a cover version of the METALLICA classic “Nothing Else Matters”during her most recent world tour can be seen below.

“I am great fan of bands like [LED] ZEPPELIN, NIRVANA or THE CURE,” she says. “I used to be a huge METALLICA fan when I was 15, 16 years old. I remember I was graduating from high school back then and I used to sing ‘Nothing Else Matters’ all day long. I am still a very huge METALLICA fan, though. [And] I thought it would be kind of surprising to include it in my repertoire for this tour.”

The original version of “Nothing Else Matters” was released as the fourth single from METALLICA‘s fifth, self-titled album, which came out in 1991. The song reached position No. 11 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart as well as top-ten positions on many European charts.

“Nothing Else Matters” was featured as a playable track in the music video game Guitar Hero: Metallica and has been covered over forty times by a host of different artists, including STAIND, BIF NAKED, DIE KRUPPS, REV THEORY and APOCALYPTICA.
