Bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. of Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA was interviewed by Branimira Novsak of the “Metal Eye” show on Z1 TV when the band performed at Boogaloo in Zagreb, Croatia on December 12, 2011 as part of the “Thrashfest Classics” European tour with EXODUS, DESTRUCTION, HEATHEN and MORTAL SIN. You can now watch the chat below.
New episodes of “Metal Eye” can be seen live via the Internet every Sunday at midnight and Wednesday at 1:00 a.m. CET. The show is in the Croatian language, but most of the interviews are conducted in English and many new metal videos are aired during the program.
EXODUS‘ setlist for “Thrashfest Classics” consisted of material exclusively from the “Bonded By Blood”, “Pleasures Of The Flesh” and “Fabulous Disaster” albums. The trek’s other co-headliner, SEPULTURA, performed songs from “Beneath The Remains”, “Arise” and “Chaos A.D.”; DESTRUCTION played tracks from “Sentence Of Death” and “Infernal Overkill”; and HEATHEN performed selections from “Breaking The Silence” and “Victims Of Deception”. MORTAL SIN‘s setlist consisted of material from the “Mayhemic Destruction” and “Face Of Despair” albums.
SEPULTURA played its first show with new drummer Eloy Casagrande (GLÓRIA, ANDRÉ MATOS) on November 25 in Lichtenfels, Germany.
Casagrande joined SEPULTURA as the replacement for Jean Dolabella, who left the band because he could no longer handle being away from home for long periods of time.
Eloy is a 20-year-old drum prodigy from São Paulo, Brazil who won the Modern Drummer “Undiscovered Drummer” contest as a teenager in 2006.
Dolabella left SEPULTURA after a five-year run of relentless touring and two studio albums. He joined SEPULTURA in 2006 following the departure of the band’s original drummer, Igor Cavalera.
SEPULTURA is touring in support of its 12th studio album, and Nuclear Blast Records debut, “Kairos”, which hit stores in July 2011.
