SKELETONWITCH: ‘Forever Abomination’ First-Week Sales Revealed

“Forever Abomination”, the new album from Athens, Ohio’s SKELETONWITCH, sold 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 153 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

SKELETONWITCH‘s previous album, “Breathing the Fire”, opened with around 3,500 units back in October 2009 to land at No. 151.

“Forever Abomination” was released earlier this month via Prosthetic Records. The follow-up to 2009’s “Breathing The Fire” was recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Matt Hyde (SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD, KREATOR). The effort includes the track “The Infernal Resurrection”, the demo version of which appears as the B-side on the final seven-inch of a limited-edition vinyl trilogy. This marks SKELETONWITCH‘s first recording with the group’s new drummer, former DEMIRICOUS skin-pounder Dustin Boltjes. The album was issued in three formats: digital download; a six-panel, plastic-free digipak; and a triple-gatefold LP (which in turn will be available in several color variants).
