SLASH Talks To FUSE About Hollywood Walk Of Fame, CHARLIE SHEEN (Video)

Grammy-winning iconic guitarist and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Slash marked a career milestone on Tuesday, July 10, as he was honored with his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Slash‘s star is located directly in front of the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Blvd (6801 Hollywood Blvd, #105 Los Angeles, CA 90028). Slash‘s friends — celebrated film producer Robert Evans, actor Charlie Sheen and beloved radio host Jim Ladd — were guest speakers at the fan-packed ceremony. Afterwards, Slash and bandmate Myles Kennedy treated fans to a private acoustic performance and exclusive question-and-answer session at the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Blvd.

When Fuse sat down with Slash to chat about getting his star on the legendary Hollywood Walk Of Fame, he spoke about why he waited until the very last minute to ask Sheen to speak at the event.

“[The people from the Hollywood Walk of Fame] said you gotta get people to speak on your behalf [at the ceremony],” Slash told Fuse. “And I was way too embarrassed to call anybody. Finally in the eleventh hour, they said, ‘You really need to get that together and pick who is going to speak for you.’ Charlie, he was always in the back of my mind as the guy to call. So finally I sent a text to Charlie, ‘Hey, would you speak on my behalf at the Hollywood Walk Of Fame?’ And he was really glad to do it, which I was sort of surprised at. I was prepared for him to be busy shooting.”

Slash also revealed he wasn’t buying the Walk Of Fame star news when he first heard it. “I didn’t believe it for months,” he said. “It wasn’t until the last month that people started asking me about it in interviews that I thought, ‘Well, this has to be real.’ It’s permanent as long as the sidewalk is there.”

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremonies, said, “Slash is widely considered one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time. We are proud to place his name among the stars on our fabled Hollywood Walk Of Fame.”
