According to Portsmouth.co.uk, WHITESNAKE drummer Brian Tichy and guitarist Doug Aldrich took part in a 90-minute performance of classic numbers on December 9 at Nevada Music in Portsmouth, England. The musicians blasted out covers of STEVIE WONDER‘s “Superstition”, THIN LIZZY‘s “Jailbreak” and LED ZEPPELIN‘s “Black Dog”.
Tichy and Aldrich, who endorse Marshall amps and Natal drums, visited Nevada Music to support the store’s link with the music brands.
Session drummer Jack Stephens, who runs the drumming section at Nevada Music, said, “This wasn’t just about promoting the brands. It was also about doing something fun and a bit different for our customers.
“When the guys from WHITESNAKE came up, everyone was taken aback because they are legends in the industry.
“When they started performing, people couldn’t believe they were literally feet away from them. Brian and Doug were so down to earth and friendly with everyone.”
Robyn Carnell, 19, sales assistant and administrator at Nevada Music, said, “As rock stars, you expected them to walk in and ignore everyone but they weren’t like that at all.”
She added: “The turnout was fantastic. More than 100 people turned up for the performance from WHITESNAKE.
“More came through the doors when they started doing autographs and signings. Brian and Doug spent up to 10 minutes with each person. It was brilliant to see.”
